[DATA ANALYTICS] What Do Data Science Roles Look Like?

Data Science once an emerging field is now in high demand in companies trying to build Data Science (DS) teams or hiring DS professionals to provide data supported insights and solutions for these companies. What does a data science role look like today?

More specifically, I wanted to answer the following questions:

  • What programming languages do Data Science professionals use?
  • What programming languages and cloud platforms are in demand?
  • How well are Data Science roles paid in the US?

Dataset & Approach

2022 Stack Overflow Survey

I used the 2022 survey results to extract insights on three main data science roles: data scientist, data analyst and data engineer and focused on employment in the US.

Insights: Data Science professionals use specific programming tools for their respective roles. Data analysts are interested in programming languages used by data scientists.

Data Science roles in the US are generally very well paid but there is no correlation between years of coding professionally and salary.
